U9 Teals Lift the Gunnersbury Cup and Earn Brentford Experience
From a Difficult Start to Cup Champions
Our U9 Teals produced a brilliant tournament comeback to lift the Brentford Gunnersbury Cup and earn themselves an unforgettable experience at the Gtech Community Stadium.
The journey began back in June - and it certainly didn't start according to plan.
The boys struggled to find their best football during the group stage and only just secured their place in the knockout rounds, progressing in second place on goal difference.
But once the knockouts began, everything changed.
Turning It On When It Mattered
The U9s found another level when the pressure increased, producing some fantastic performances against strong opposition through the quarter-finals and semi-finals to book their place in the final.
Waiting for them were our good friends at Surrey Nomads.
What followed was an incredibly competitive final between two excellent teams, with nothing separating the sides and the trophy eventually having to be decided by a penalty shootout.
The boys held their nerve when it mattered most.
JDA were Gunnersbury Cup champions. 🏆
And lifting the trophy came with an extra reward
An Experience Earned
As winners of the tournament, the team received tickets to visit the Gtech Community Stadium and watch Brentford's first team take on Eintracht Frankfurt in a pre-season friendly.
The players and families made a day of the occasion, meeting before the match for some food and time together before heading to the stadium as a group.
Then it was time for the football - and they couldn't have picked a much more entertaining game.
The boys watched Brentford produce an incredible 7–0 victory, with goals flying in throughout the afternoon.
For our players, it was another opportunity to experience Premier League football up close, watch top-level players and enjoy the occasion together as teammates.
A Reward They Fully Deserved
What made the experience even more special was knowing the players had earned their opportunity to be there.
From almost exiting the Gunnersbury Cup at the group stage to finding another level in the knockout rounds, winning a dramatic final and eventually taking their seats together at the Gtech Community Stadium, it was a brilliant journey for the group.
These experiences are about more than football. They're about giving our players opportunities to compete, succeed and create memories together both on and off the pitch.
A trophy, a Premier League stadium and another unforgettable JDA experience for our U9 Teals.
